Banknote Grading Guide
Here’s how we grade our banknotes. Grading is subjective; you're always welcome to return a note you're not happy with.
- UNC (Uncirculated): Perfect, with no folds or handling. Crisp and bright. May have a small mint-origin mark (e.g. from security thread).
- AU (About Uncirculated): Nearly perfect. One light fold or handling mark, paper still crisp.
- XF (Extremely Fine): Minor handling, up to three light folds. Still strong and attractive.
- VF (Very Fine): Several folds or light creases. No major damage. Moderate wear.
- F (Fine): Heavy folds and general wear. Still fully intact and readable.
- VG (Very Good): Well-worn, soft paper, possibly small tears. Major features still visible.
Coin Grading Guide
We use the following coin grading standards. Grading varies between issuers, but these are widely accepted guidelines.
- UNC (Uncirculated) / BU (Brilliant Uncirculated): No wear, full mint luster, untouched by circulation.
- AU (About Uncirculated): Nearly flawless. Only slight wear on highest points.
- XF (Extremely Fine): Light wear on high points. Still very sharp with strong detail.
- VF (Very Fine): Moderate wear. All major features clear. Minimal mint luster.
- F (Fine): Extensive wear but all main elements remain visible.
- VG (Very Good): Heavy wear. Legends readable, but surface detail is largely worn down.
- G (Good): Very worn. Bare outlines of designs remain, rims may be weak or merged into the field.
