Six banknotes. Six heroes. One currency that burned through history in six years. This complete Peruvian Inti UNC set spans the entire circulation series from 10 to 5,000 Intis — each note a window into a different chapter of Peru's extraordinary story, from the Inca rebellion to the War of the Pacific to the cotton fields of the Andes.

What's Included

  • 10 Intis (P128/129, 1985–1987)Ricardo Palma, "el Bibliotecario Mendigo" — the writer who rebuilt Peru's National Library book by book after Chilean forces burned it. Reverse: indigenous farmers harvesting cotton and corn in the Andes.
  • 50 Intis (P130/131, 1985–1987)Nicolás de Piérola, "El Califa" — seminary student turned coup leader who seized the presidency twice, married into Mexican imperial royalty, and sponsored Japanese immigration to Peru. Reverse: oil drilling rig and helicopter.
  • 100 Intis (P132/133, 1985–1987)Ramón Castilla — three-time president who abolished slavery in 1854 (nine years before Lincoln) and funded it all with guano exports. Reverse: woman operating an industrial cotton spinning machine.
  • 500 Intis (P135, 1987)Túpac Amaru II — the indigenous rebel who led the largest uprising against Spanish colonial rule in the Americas in 1780, executed so brutally his grave was scattered across the Andes to prevent it becoming a shrine. Reverse: Huascarán, the highest peak in Peru.
  • 1000 Intis (P136, 1986–1988)Mariscal Andrés Avelino Cáceres, "El Brujo de los Andes" — the general who refused to surrender when Chile occupied Lima, fighting a guerrilla war from the mountains. Reverse: Ruins of Chan Chan, the largest pre-Columbian city in South America.
  • 5000 Intis (P137/138/139, 1988)Admiral Miguel Grau — Peru's greatest naval hero, so chivalrous in battle that his Chilean enemies wept when he died. Reverse: fishermen mending nets on the Pacific coast.

The Currency That Collapsed in Six Years

The Inti was introduced in 1985 to replace the sol at 1,000:1 — itself a sign of the inflation already ravaging Peru. Under President Alan García's government, the economy spiraled into one of the worst hyperinflationary crises in Latin American history, peaking at 7,649% annual inflation in 1990. By 1991, the Inti was replaced by the nuevo sol at 1,000,000:1. The entire face value of this six-note set — 6,660 Intis — was worth less than one U.S. cent at demonetization. Today these notes are worth far more as collectibles than they ever were as currency.

Six Heroes, One Story

Taken together, the Inti series is a curated portrait of Peruvian identity: a librarian who rebuilt knowledge from ashes, a caudillo who married into empire, a president who freed the enslaved, a rebel who shook a colonial order, a guerrilla general who refused to quit, and an admiral who made his enemies weep. No other currency series tells a national story quite like this one.

Own the complete set and hold six centuries of Peruvian history in your hands — heroes, rebels, reformers, and warriors, all printed on paper that became worthless within a decade, and priceless shortly after.

Who is World Money Store?

World Money Store is me, Βrian Grοss, the sole proprietor of this small business, based in Washington D.C. I've spend half my adult life in The Netherlands and Mexico and have an addiction to travel, history and languages (Spanish, Dutch Russian and a few others); Arabic my current challenge. My personal instagram is @df2dc.

I've been on ebay for 22 years, and I am also on Whatnot. I put together the website myself, and do all the purchasing.

I travel around the world to personally select a range of banknotes that I KNOW match the interests of my customers, and by traveling to the right places, I get them at the best prices, too.

I have three main groups of customers:

1. the ones who love diverse colorful and affordable notes from around the world

2. those who love to own pieces of the propaganda of communist dictatorships (Cuba, North Korea) and "bad guys" like the Ayatollah, Saddam, Gadaffi. Iran (Shah, Ayatollah), Syria (Assad, current).

3. those who seek Venezuelan and Iranian currency. We sell banknotes for collecting purposes only (our intention).

I happen to have a lot of depth and breadth in Mexico and Brazil, in addition to Cuba and Iran.

I don't focus on anything from the U.S. and Canada, items from before World War II, "lucky" serial numbers, or PMG-graded items.
